Shottisham

The earliest history of Shottisham is recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book and is described as being located in the Wilford Hundred.

Back then Shottisham had 24 households, which was quite large compared to other nearby village parishes. It now has a population of 197.

There are a number of listed buildings in Shottisham including St Margaret’s Parish Church and the public house The Sorrel Horse – a grade two listed building.

Another, Shottisham Trust Hall, was gifted to the Women of Shottisham in the 1930’s by a member of the Quilter family it was listed in August 1988. It became a grade two listed building in August 1988.

While the village no longer has a village store and post office, it has a successful camp site with 30 pitches that has an on-site shop of local produce.
