Need a home?

PVCLT must give priority to individuals and families that have a strong local connection to the Deben Peninsula. This is someone who has lived and/or worked on the Deben Peninsula for the last 3 years; who has previously lived on the Deben Peninsula for at least 3 years and was forced to move away because of the lack of affordable housing; or who has established links with the Deben Peninsula by reason of birth and/or long-term family connections. If this applies to you, you need to do two things to be considered for one of our affordable homes.

First, register an expression of interest with us.

Secondly, register with Gateway to Homechoice.

This is a choice based lettings system that advertises and allocates social housing.

The website can appear daunting when you first apply but be patient.

You will need a bit of information to hand to start the application, including your national insurance number.

Once registered you will receive a special code to help you login each time. You can then move to a slightly more complicated assessment form.

This will ask you about your current living arrangements, your employment and your financial details, including any salary and benefits you receive.

Try to have all your paperwork to hand. The form allows you 15 minutes to save the information and submit the application. However, you can return and edit your application even when the document has been submitted.

At the end of the assessment, you will be advised which housing options are open to you.

For help on how to login, register and on how to bid for properties, the Gateway to Homechoice website has a How To section  and a number of videos which will take you through the different steps.

As far as our current projects stand, the School Lane properties will be open for bidding once built – currently planned for late summer/autumn of 2022.

In the meantime, if you want more information on affordable housing take a look at the Who Are You? page.
