I want an affordable home
We have been formed to provide housing for those who would otherwise be unable to rent or buy a suitable home on the Deben Peninsula.
Our homes will be available for either rent or for affordable ownership. Our affordable rents are set at the Local Housing Allowance, as determined by Government guidance. Affordable ownership will be achieved by offering houses on a shared equity or shared ownership basis, where purchasers will own a percentage of the property and, in the case of shared ownership, pay rent on the remaining percentage.
Our homes are currently allocated via East Suffolk Council’s Gateway to Homechoice service and priority will be given to individuals and families that have a strong local connection to the Deben Peninsula. A ‘strong local connection’ is defined as:
- Someone who has lived and/or worked on the Deben Peninsula for the last 3 years;
- Someone who has previously lived on the Deben Peninsula for at least 3 years and was forced to move away because of the lack of affordable housing;
- Someone who has established links with the Deben Peninsula by reason of birth and/or long-term family connections.
Priority is given to those who have been on the waiting list the longest, and so it is vital that you register with Gateway to Homechoice as soon as possible if you wish to be considered for a PVCLT home. This can be done via East Suffolk’s housing service at www.gatewaytohomechoice.org.uk.
We know that there is an immediate need for affordable housing and are aiming to have our first four properties available for rent in the spring of 2023.
We are also working hard to identify suitable land for further development, but there will be some delay before more housing becomes available.
In the meantime, it is important that we capture preliminary information about anyone that may be interested in renting or buying one of our properties. If this is you, please register your interest by contacting us.
